Hi There I have a 210 HD 130, the type without any preamp tubes, and it pops fuses. I just got it, and it has been worked on before. The previous owner replaced the electro caps under the cap pan. Anyway, the repair looks somewhat suspect to me as the two caps are wired in series with another wire at the point where they join. The schematic I have doesn't show the polarity of the caps so well, can anybody verify that the caps should be wired in series as described? If you can refer me to a photo that would be especially helpful...thanks so much in advance for your efforts

Yep, that's how they are wired. It's a voltage doubler circuit. -Lars Mikael

Here's a pic of the caps. They are just there for examples as this amp is out of commission!

By the way, if you guys need any close up shot of the inside of a 130 w/PI tube, let me know. I have one here that stays apart and will probably never be put back together. It's a 130 and I sure as hell don't need THAT much juice and since it's broke, I just use it for photo stuff. SOMEDAY I may fix it but with the price of tubes, I think I'll stick to 50 watt amps that only use two! Maybe I SHOULD fix it........hmmmm! |
